Periodontal Specialist

Urbanview Dental provides our own in-house periodontal specialist – Dr. Michael Landzberg. 

A periodontist is a specialized dentist who focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease as well as the placement of dental implants. A periodontist also has expertise in treating oral inflammation. Their training is extensive in these areas, which includes three more years of education beyond dental school. Periodontists are familiar with the most up-to-date techniques for diagnosing and treating periodontal disease. They can also perform cosmetic periodontal procedures.

It’s not unusual for periodontists to treat more problematic periodontal cases. Often this means patients with severe gum disease or a complex medical history, with whom they use a range of surgical procedures. They provide a wide range of treatments, such as scaling and root planing (cleaning the infected surface of the root) or root surface debridement (removing damaged tissue). Periodontists are trained specifically in the placement, maintenance, and repair of dental implants.

Dr. Landzberg treats referred patients from all four of our locations. We know how fortunate we are to have Dr. Landzberg, as he helps us customize your treatment to your needs with your records all in one place. Dr. Landzberg at our office helps facilitate treatment as well as coordination between your dentist and the specialist. 

If necessary, our dentists will refer you to Dr. Landzberg.
